    Passion

After a decade of being a school administrator and a parent myself, I realize more than ever that communication is one of the most important aspects of a successful school--yet sometimes most overlooked or poorly practiced. I'm interested in exploring new and more efficient ways of increasing school to home and home to school communication. As our school begins to rebrand homework as homelearning through the integration of flipped learning opportunities, I feel more than ever a need to improve our methods of communication. It can be tough to make this occur at the middle school level but arguably is the most critical time in a child's development.

    Passion

My values and beliefs as an administrator include having a commitment to making student-centered decisions, being passionate about learning, creating a safe, supportive learning environment and being driven by high standards for all students. I believe in establishing a collaborative culture which centers around meeting the needs of all students and supports the development of the whole child. This includes building relationships with families and the community to deepen that support. I believe that all students can learn. It is up to administrators and educators to work together to provide responsive, data driven instruction that will meet students where they are and to help move them forward. Our job is to empower our students to recognize and develop their many strengths and to ignite a lifelong love of learning!

    Passion

Working the better part of my career in a middle school setting, it has become clear how advantageous a time in students’ lives this can be in helping develop their attitudes and beliefs as learners. Middle school provides students opportunities to explore and engage in ways that are best suited to their learning, direct and monitor their own growth and development and master key components of the core content as well as 21st century learning skills. Students at this level work collaboratively with others through inquiry and the problem solving process. With the support of various stakeholders, we can help ensure that students’ gain the knowledge they need to enhance their learning potential and rise above their own expectations as part of the school and greater community.
