    Six Flags Read to Succeed is a free program that allows students in Grades K-6 to earn tickets to Six Flags Great America just by reading six hours for fun!

  • DENTAL SEALANTS PROGRAM

    Bensenville School District 2’s dental sealant program is a free on-site program that will be offered at W.A. Johnson School on TUesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29. 

    All students qualify for a dental exam should they choose to apply for the program. (The exam meets the state’s dental exam requirements for students entering kindergarten, second, and sixth grades.)

    Additionally, the program provides applicants who qualify for financial assistance with free dental cleaning, sealants, and fluoride treatment, as well as off-site restorative care if necessary.

  • BSD2 COMMUNITY DINNER

    District 2 will host its second offering in its new “Food for Thought” Community Dinner Series on Tuesday, January 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Tioga School. Mindfulness will be the discussion topic, and Mindful Practices will be on hand to demonstrate how "relaxed teachers teach better and relaxed students learn better." District 2 partners with Mindful Practices to provide social-emotional learning programs that help our students and teachers self-regulate and “keep their cool” in order to be more focused and ready to excel during the school day.

  • STUDENTS INVOLVED IN TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE

    District 2 will host the 2020 Students Involved with Technology Conference on Saturday, February 22. The SIT Conference is a technology conference unlike any other: hosted by kids, for kids. Students in Grades 3-12 enjoy hands-on activities and present to their peers on the latest in STEAM topics.

  • METROPOLITAN FAMILY SERVICES' PARENTING FUNDAMENTALS

    Through the Full Service Community Schools Program, District 2 and Metropolitan Family Services will offer a series of classes titled "Parenting Fundamentals: Parent Empowerment for Family success." Intended for parents of children ages birth to 4 years old, the classes will be offered every Wednesday -- January 29 through March 18 -- from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson School. In the classes, parents will learn about supporting school success, patience and respect, building strong relationships, communication skills, positive discipline, self-esteem and self-care, substance abuse prevention, and child development.

  • HEALTHY COOKING CLASS

    Through its Full Service Community Schools Program, District 2 is hosting a FREE workshop with nationally recognized nutritionist Sylvia Meléndez Klinger on Monday, January 27, from 4-5:30 p.m. at Tioga School. Sylvia is the founder of Hispanic Food Communications, Inc., a nutrition communications consulting company, and is the author of The Little Book of Simple Eating. She has been featured on major news networks as an expert on nutrition issues and research. Sylvia’s healthy cooking classes will address childhood obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol, digestive problems, and a number of other nutrition related issues.
