District 2's fifth Students Involved with Technology Conference was its biggest success yet!

More than 400 students from schools all around the Bensenville area participated Saturday, February 22, in the BSD2 Students Involved in Technology (SIT) Conference, held for the fifth year in a row at Blackhawk Middle School.

The theme of this year’s SIT conference was "OUr Visiion is 2020 ... and Beyond!” and the goal of the conference was for students to finish the day with a greater understanding of how they fit into and contribute to the technical world around them.

The conference featured a keynote presentation by Bensenville resident Wally Musto, Senior Director of IT Solutions at Sirius Computer Solutions. Mr. Musto has worked in the IT industry for 19 years. He started his career working for IT startup companies and has successfully worked to grow and market three acquisitions. He worked for Forsythe Technology in Skokie for 10 years, managing a large group of IT consultants and developing mechanisms for effective information sharing and team building. He also developed solutions and services to meet or exceed client needs, and developed efficient and effective processes for IT subcontracting. This was a primary reason for financial growth in the services provided, which led to the eventual acquisitions of Forsythe by Sirius Computer Solutions.

Following Mr. Musto's remarks, tudents in Grades 3-12 spent the day learning from other students in hands-on workshops and tutorials on the latest technology, ranging from robotics to apps programming. Attendees participated in sessions of their choosing to expand their technology skills and discovering new ones.

Closing ceremonies capped off the day’s events with drawings and prizes provided by the Bensenville conference’s generous donors:
