BACK-TO-SCHOOL BRIEFS: Need-to-know info on material sharing and technology

As we approach the first day of school on Wednesday, August 18, we will share brief daily messages providing more details on the District's 2021-2022 In-Person Reopening Plan.

Material Sharing & Technology

  • Classroom community materials (pencils, crayons, etc.) will no longer be allowed. Students will have their own individual materials that they will store at their assigned work stations. The sharing of a student’s supplies and personal materials is prohibited.

  • Tablets will be assigned to each student in Grades K-1, and Chromebooks will be assigned to each student in Grades 2-8.

  • At times, classes will share equipment and materials for science labs, hands-on STEM units, art projects and other educational activities. Teachers will monitor the use of these materials within their classroom, place appropriate limits on and parameters for using and sharing them, and see that they are properly cleaned between uses.

  • In Grades K-5, students will be assigned hallway “cubbies” where they will be able to keep their coats and backpacks. These areas will be monitored at busy times of the day to ensure students maintain appropriate physical distancing.

  • At the middle school level, students will be assigned lockers, but will also be allowed to carry their backpacks throughout the day. They will be able to store their coats either in their lockers or backpacks, or on their desk chairs.

  • At busier times of the day, hallway lockers and cubbies will be monitored to make certain physical distancing is maintained to the greatest extent possible.
