BACK-TO-SCHOOL BRIEFS: Need-to-know info on symptom screening and staying home when sick

As we approach the first day of school on Wednesday, August 18, we will share brief daily messages providing more details on the District's 2021-2022 In-Person Reopening Plan.

SYMPTOM SCREENING & STAYING HOME WHEN SICK

  • Every day, all students and staff must be free of any of the following COVID-like symptoms in order to be in the District:

    • Fever of 100.4 F or greater or chills
    • Cough, if new
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue from unknown cause
    • Muscle or body aches from unknown cause
    • Headache (new and either moderate or severe)
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea

  • Temperature screening and online symptom self-certification will no longer be conducted.

  • Parents will be responsible for screening their child before school, and by sending them to school, they will certify that the child is not experiencing any COVID symptoms.

  • Everyone will be encouraged to stay home if they are sick or symptomatic.

  • Expect to stay home for 10 days from the onset of symptoms.

  • Return sooner than 10 days only by bringing a written note from your healthcare provider. The note must either confirm a negative COVID-19 test result or provide an alternative diagnosis for the symptoms.
