Greetings BSD2 Families, Students, Staff and Community Members,
It is both a privilege and a pleasure to introduce myself today. I’m Dr. Katie McCluskey, and I’ve looked forward to this moment since the District 2 Board of Education appointed me in December. I’m thrilled that July 1 is finally here, and I can formally begin my role as your new Superintendent of Schools!
I’ve been an educator for 20 years, and I come to District 2 from Glen Ellyn District 41, where I’ve served as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Accountability since 2017. While today is my first official day on this job, I have worked with Dr. Lechner, Dr. Nelson, and the rest of the District 2 Leadership Team throughout the second half of the school year to ensure a smooth transition into my new role, and to prepare for a successful start to the 2022-2023 school year.
Before we head “back to school,” though, I must commend the District for its achievements this past year. This community went above and beyond by selecting a new leader, crafting a new strategic plan, and negotiating a new teachers contract. It tackled those monumental tasks, all while working every day to enhance teaching and learning for our students and families, and improve climate and culture for our teachers and staff. Thank you to the Board of Education, the District 2 Administration, the Bensenville Education Association, and the entire BSD2 community for doing this important work to set us up for future success.
Indeed, we are already “Learning & Growing Together!”
That’s the District’s new motto, by the way. We’ll share more about that and our new strategic plan later this summer. Until then, I am excited to meet all of you soon, and honored to work alongside you as we empower our students to learn and succeed.
Thank you for this opportunity, and enjoy the summer!
Dr. Katie McCluskey
Superintendent of Schools
